Leesburg 2006 |

Leesburg was great, with one exception. We were missing our Patty girl due to an unfortunate accident. Our little group did not learn of Patty’s accident until the rest of our Band of Brothers arrived on Saturday. (Hope you’re on the mend Patty!)
Our little group (Mike, Ginny, Rick and I) left out of Port St Lucie around 3pm on Thursday. It was a wonderful ride, to say the least. I was exhilarated, excited, worried, overwhelmed, and just plain giddy as this was my very first “long” road trip on my bike!
When we arrived at the Inn, we decided to go for dinner and came across “Bell’s Seafood” - if you haven’t eaten there yet, you are missing out! We enjoyed it so much on Thursday evening, that we went back for “all the catfish you can eat” on Saturday! At $8.95 for “have it your way fillet”, or $7.95 for whole fish, it was wonderful!
We spent Friday visiting all of the vendor booths. I told Ginny that I wanted to go to the “Opera House Saloon and Dance Hall,” but unfortunately, the guys didn’t want to go there. So Ginny and I went. If you didn’t get up there, it was a “wild” time!
On Saturday afternoon, Betty, Arnie, Rick and Mike joined in and went with us to the “Saloon”. We had a great time. Unfortunately, when we returned to our bikes on Saturday at the “private parking lot,“ someone had messed with Mike’s bike and tried to remove his grips and speed control. Saturday afternoon found the 6 of us riding to the Hideaway for the “itty, bitty, titty” wet t-shirt contest and a few drinks (one too many!). We missed the pudding wrestling contest at Rat’s Hole.
On Saturday night, we hooked-up with Joe (1) and Joe (2). Into town we went, searching for a hat I had seen on Friday. Yes, that was me toting those guys along to all of the vendors and getting them into trouble. While walking down Main Street, I was behind a very big, grizzly fellow. He had a COBB (Concerned Old Biker Bastard) patch on his vest, with a few other patches. When he stopped to look at something on a vendor’s table, I gingerly “spanked” his butt! He turned around ready to punch my light’s out, when I said I was only following directions! I had to remind him that one of his patches stated “SPANK ME”, so I did!
We found Debbie, Opie, Tommy and his Debbie enjoying the entertainment and joined in. When we told them of the problem with Mike’s bike earlier, we all decided to leave. (Besides, the young crouch rocket types were getting stupid.)
The BEST time of all was eating breakfast with our Band of Brothers on Sunday morning and catching up with all they did through the weekend. After all, isn’t that what Sunday’s are for, a precious moment in time to spend with your family?
On the ride home, two old biker dudes with soft hearts had to stop in Orlando to help out a much younger “biker.” Mike and Ginny’s grandson was riding his bike and the chain came off. Being a good grandpa, Mike had to stop. Being grandparents ourselves, we all stopped to help put little Mikey’s chain back on. (Yep, I got a picture of the big bad biker dude’s in their leather’s working on little Mikey’s bike!) It was worth the "squishes" and "kisses" from Mike and Ginny's grandkids!
The ride home was uneventful, except for that wind that caused a wobble in my bike. We passed up Arnie and Betty, then further down the road Mike, and even further our Whitey, who rode all the way home with us.
It was wonderful, relaxing, and most enjoyable! We had fun - - did you?
